Robbery At Lee Road Business, Suspect Found In Cumberland Park
A man brandishing a large gun stole merchandise from a Lee Road business before being caught by Cleveland Heights police.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — One person is in custody after the Uptown Mart on Lee Road was robbed by a lone gunman on Tuesday, police announced.
Chelston Toler, 30, faces charges for aggravated robbery, Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg told Patch. Additional charges may be filed at a later date, she added. He is being held at Cleveland Heights Jail.
The robbery happened at 12:30 p.m., police told Patch. A man wearing a red and black checkered hoodie approached the cashier and pulled out a gun, police said.

The cashier ran to the back of the store and called 911. The suspect jumped behind the counter and tried to open the cash register but couldn't budge it, police said.
The suspect grabbed merchandise from Uptown Mart and then ran out of the store and headed north, police said. He wasn't able to get any money before leaving.

Cleveland Heights police spotted the suspect running through Cumberland Park. He was surrounded and he surrendered to police, according to Cpt. Christopher Britton of Cleveland Heights police.
Stolen merchandise and a gun were found on the man, police said. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police added.
