Refuse/Recycling Carts Coming This Fall
Each household is scheduled to receive a 96-gallon refuse cart and a 64-gallon recycling cart. Larger households can pre-purchase an additional 96-gallon refuse cart and seniors may opt for a smaller 64-gallon or 32-gallon refuse cart and/or a 32-gallon recycling cart. To purchase an additional 96-gallon cart or seniors requesting a smaller cart, visit the Cleveland Heights website by July 27.
American Rescue Plan Act Survey
We would like to hear how you think the City should use the Rescue Plan Act funds ($38.8 million) that Cleveland Heights was recently awarded from the Federal Government as a result of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA). Please visit the website to rank your choices. The United States Treasury has set specific guidelines regarding how the City can spend these monies, which must be used by December 31, 2024.
Proposed Zoning Code Amendments
City Council has sent proposed zoning code amendments regarding private parking garages and other ancillary changes to the Planning Commission for review and comment. They are available for review online. Residents can email comments to ezamft@clvhts.com.
City Hall Offices and Community Center Closed
In observance of Independence Day, the Community Center will be closed on July 4 and July 5; City Hall offices will be closed on July 5. Refuse/ Recycling and bulk items will be picked up one day later than your usual pick-up the week of July 5.
Drive-Through Food Distribution at Community Center
The Cleveland Heights Community Center is partnering with the Cleveland Food Bank to be a distribution point for The Farmers to Families food box program providing farm fresh food to Cleveland Heights residents in need. The next distribution date is July 8 at the Community Center, 1 Monticello Blvd. Those interested must call 216-691-7373 in advance to reserve your box since supplies are limited.

American Red Cross Blood Drive on July 6
The American Red Cross is urging people to donate blood soon due to a severe supply shortage. Upcoming opportunities include July 6 and July 13 from 10am to 4pm at Church of the Saviour (2537 Lee Road). Those who have received the coronavirus vaccine can donate blood so long as they are symptom-free, feel well and can provide the vaccine manufacturer’s name. Donors are asked to schedule an appointment online or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
Voter Registration Deadline for Special Election
The League of Women Voters reminds all residents that July 6 is the deadline to register in order to vote in the August 3 Congressional District 11 primary election (partisan). To register or update your registration: go online to the Ohio Secretary of State’s website; in person at the public library, the Board of Elections or any other location listed on the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections website; or by mail by following the instructions on the Board of Elections website.
Heights Libraries Memory Kits
All Heights Library branches are circulating memory kits to support community members living with dementia and their caregivers. Memory kits are interactive bundles of library materials containing books, music, movies and activities that center on a theme or a decade. They are designed to help caregivers and those with dementia connect over fun and relaxing activities. Kits are available at every branch and can be checked out for two weeks at a time.
