9,200 People Without Power In Northeast Ohio

Most of the outages are concentrated in and around Cleveland and Cleveland Heights.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Nearly 9,300 FirstEnergy customers are without power on Sunday evening. While Tropical Storm Gordon hasn't caused the mass of flooding initially expected, it has still drenched Northeast Ohio in rain, creating slippery driving conditions.

The majority of the outages are in Cuyahoga County, and are concentrated in and around the Cleveland metro area and suburban Cleveland Heights. The outages website for FirstEnergy shows more than 5,700 customers in Cleveland Heights without power, and more than 2,000 customers in the dark in Cleveland.

Rain started Saturday in Northeast Ohio and continued all-day Sunday. Initial concerns were for flooding in the region, but chunks of the east side of Cuyahoga County are now in the dark.

Rain is expected to continue through Sunday and into Monday morning, before tapering off. There is a 40 percent chance of rain during on Monday, but the rest of the work week should be sunny and clear.

The remnants of hurricane and tropical storm weather will continue to migrate north throughout the week, though. With some forecasts suggesting Hurricane Florence's remnants could hit Ohio next weekend.
