Artists Needed! Cleveland Heights Looking For Mural Proposals

To celebrate the city's centennial, Cleveland Heights officials want to create an enduring mural in the Noble neighborhood.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — To celebrate the city's centennial, officials want to create an "enduring" mural celebrating life in Cleveland Heights. Artists can now submit their proposals for that mural.

The mural will be realized on a brick building at 2555 Noble Road in the Noble neighborhood. The mural will have a finished size of 480 inches by 133 inches. The winning artist will receive a $1,000 stipend for their work and a professional mural artists will execute the selected ideas.

The mural contest is open to artists in Cleveland Heights, including seniors at Heights High.

Here are the guidelines for mural proposals, according to the city:

  • Be enduring. While celebrating its 100 year anniversary, the chosen concept will be able to speak to Cleveland Heights for years to come.
  • Be positive and uplifting.
  • Be appropriate for all ages.
  • Complement the space in which it is installed.
  • Incorporate building features such as the air conditioning unit and rain barrel.
  • Speak to the City of Cleveland Heights’ commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Consider including “All are welcome.”

“For the last century, the City of Cleveland Heights has often been revered for its diversity among everything from its residents and restaurants to its arts and architecture,” said President of City Council Council Jason Stein. “We are proud to celebrate our rich history as we look to the next 100 years with a series of events throughout the year and invite the public to share their stories, as well.”
