Cleveland Heights Bomb Squad Practices on Former Medic Drug Mart

Cuyahoga Land Bank blogs about seeing demo close-up in partnership with Cleveland Heights Bomb Squad

The demolition of the former Medic Drug Mart, a building that stood vacant for years  on Noble Road in Cleveland Heights, helped the Cleveland Heights Bomb Squad get some practice, the Cuyahoga Land Bank wrote on its blog.

The building was demolished last month after it was declared a nuisance in October 2011, six months after it became the site of some interesting mystery murals.

“They demonstrated different explosive materials, so we could see which made the biggest explosions,” said Cheryl Stephens, Director of Acquisition, Disposition and Development for the Cuyahoga Land Bank, which worked with the Cleveland Heights Housing Department to provide the space for the squad. “That’s their expertise. It was thrilling to watch it up close!”
