Cleveland Heights Man Stabbed After Asking for Change

A Cleveland Heights man was stabbed in the chest after asking for 20 cents at a bus stop.

A Cleveland Heights man is facing charges after stabbing a man asking him for change, reported Cleveland.com.

In what surely will cost him more than a couple nickels from his pocket, Herman N. Riley, 57, is charged with felonious assault. The stabbing took place Monday at a bus stop on 2816 Mayfield Road.

The 46-year-old Cleveland Heights victim received treatment at University Hospital Case Medical Center, and his current condition is unknown.

The incident occurred around 5:34 p.m., according to the incident report. Riley told the victim to, "get a job," after the man asked for 20 cents. An argument erupted, leading to Riley pulling out a pocketknife. The victim punched Riley in the face before Riley stabbed him in the chest, according to police.

The responding officers found Riley near Eddington Road, a short distance from Mayfield Road. Two witnesses were available to identify Riley.
