Cleveland Heights Native Kelce Drafted by Eagles
Will play center in NFC East after playing at University of Cincinnati
NEW YORK, NY – Cleveland Heights native Jason Kelce was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round, No. 191 overall, during this year’s NFL draft.
Kelce, who played college ball at the University of Cincinnati, graduated from , and will join former UC players Brent Celek and Trent Cole on the Eagles.
A walk-on at UC, he finished as a two-time second-team All-Big East selection as a guard and center. According to the university, in 2010 the Bearcats had their first 1,000-yard rusher in nearly a decade, in 2009 UC set school records for points scored and touchdowns, and in 2008 the offense averaged 27.3 points per game and 375.3 yards of total offense per game. Kelce’s steady approach on the line helped with these achievements.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said he will look for Kelce to play center.
"I feel like I’m in the best situation I could of gone into," Kelce told the team’s website staff. "Obviously, the Eagles are competing for a Super Bowl immediately right now with the personnel they have. The City of Philadelphia is awesome. I’ve been there a few times in my life and I’ve always loved it. The organization is great and I’m just really excited right now.”

While at Cleveland Heights, he was a two-time all-league selection and made 105 tackles at linebacker as a senior.
