COVID-19 In Cleveland Heights: ZIP Code Updates

Cleveland Heights has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases locally since December.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — There have more than 2,200 COVID-19 cases associated with a Cleveland Heights ZIP code, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

The 4418 ZIP Code has been home to 2,202 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. That's up from 1,808 in mid-December.

Another ZIP code which touches Cleveland Heights, 44121, has had 1,938 COVID-19 cases among residents. That's up from 1,606 in mid-December.

After seeing declining cases, Ohio saw a surge in COVID-19 hospitalizations on Tuesday, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported. Ohio's current COVID-19 hospitalization level is three times what it was on Nov. 1 and seven times what it was on Oct. 1.

"Our hospitals are extremely busy and we haven't yet begun to see what the impact may be from the holiday. We have a lot of road ahead and we can't forget COVID-19 safety," said Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, chief medical officer for ODH.

Approximately 1.5 percent of Ohioans have started the COVID-19 vaccine (nearly 175,000 people), according to the Ohio Department of Health. Vaccine distribution should begin for new groups of Ohioans in the next month or so, Gov. Mike DeWine indicated Tuesday.
