'Dance Nation' Is Dobama's Next Show

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Dobama Theatre's next show will be "Dance Nation." The production will premiere March 6.

According to the company, the show is about "an army of pre-teen competitive dancers who are plotting to take over the world. And if their new routine is good enough, they’ll claw their way to the top at the Boogie Down Grand Prix in Tampa Bay."

The production will be directed by Shannon Sindelar. Preview performances will begin March 4, the debut is March 6 and shows will continue through March 29. Performances will be held Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets range in price from $32 to $38.

The cast features Wesley Allen as Luke, DeLee Cooper as Zuzu, Carolyn Demanelis as Vanessa/Moms, Sidney Edwards as Amina, Avani Hamilton as Connie, Anne McEvoy as Maeve, Mariama White as Ashlee, Tom Woodward as Dance Teacher Pat and Calista Zajac as Sofia.

Dobama said the play is "about ambition, growing up, and how to find our souls in the heat of it all, this exciting portrait of a competitive middle-school dance troupe explores both the exhilaration and the raw terror of being a kid through the story of a group of 13-year-olds played by a cast of adult actors."
