Disposing Of The Tree? Cleveland Heights Will Help Out

Make sure you get the ornaments and lights off before the tree is set out on the curb.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Before chopping up and burning the Christmas tree, residents should consider taking advantage of the city's collection and recycling program. The city says it offers an environmentally sensitive way to dispose of live trees.

All decorations must be stripped from the tree — that includes tinsel, lights, wire, bags, ornaments or whatever else may adorn the Scotch pine in the living room. Trees in plastic bags, or flocked trees, cannot be recycled in this program.

Once a tree is properly stripped and naked, it can be left on a resident's treelawn on regular refuse and recycling collection day.
