Ensemble Theatre Launches Live Play Reading Series

The Cleveland Heights-based company is hosting an online play reading series.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Ensemble Theatre's 10-minute Play Reading series begins Monday on Zoom.

"During these uncertain times, practicing social distancing and mitigating the spread of Covid-19, we are finding creative ways to stay connected!" the company said.

Each reading is streamed live on Ensemble's Facebook page. Readings will be held every other Monday at 7 p.m. Shows will feature the work of local playwrights and there will be a question-and-answer session following the reading. Participants can submit questions via the Zoom chat function or as comments on the Facebook Livestream.

The first reading will be held Sept. 21 and will feature "Prospect" by Ann Cohen. Here's how the company describes the show:

"Prospect Avenue, 1976. A fundraiser for the American Heart Association is set to begin in a formerly dilapidated brownstone which has been turned into a magnificent Designer's Showcase House. A man who had sheltered there before the renovation returns to collect his most prized possession, and a confrontation that will change lives rips through the beauty and tranquility of the transformed space."

The reading can be streamed on Facebook.
