Gunpoint Robbery: Suspects Steal Woman's SUV In Cleveland Heights

Two men pointed a gun at a woman and demanded the keys to her SUV on Friday.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A woman was robbed on Princeton Road on Friday afternoon in Cleveland Heights.

The woman was parking her Ford Escape when two young men approached her, pointed a gun at her and demanded her car keys. The woman handed over the keys and the suspects drove off in her SUV, Cleveland Heights Police Chief Annette Mecklenburg said.

The woman was not hurt during the robbery. Some of her personal property was found on Dellwood and Silsby later that day.

On Friday night, the woman's SUV was involved in a police car chase in Warrensville Heights. Her vehicle crashed and three men were seen running from the Escape. The suspects escaped police that night, Mecklenburg said.

Anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed the robbery or any unusual activity is asked to contact police at 216-321-1234.

"We want to remind everyone how important it is to always remain vigilant when out and about. Incidents such as this can and have happened everywhere. Always be aware of your surroundings and if you observe any suspicious activity call the police. Should you be approached by someone wanting your car, let them have it. Remember it is just a car and your safety is worth so much more," Mecklenburg said in a statement.
