Heights Alum, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Could Star In Super Bowl LIV

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is proud of his roots in Cleveland Heights. The All-Pro player has made frequent returns to his hometown, throwing fundraisers for Heights High and getting inducted into his alma mater's Hall of Fame. Now, Kelce is looking to bring further joy to his hometown by making himself a Super Bowl champion.

Kelce will be a key part of the Chiefs game plan as they play the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. During the regular season, Kelce caught 97 passes for 1,229 yards and five touchdowns. He was dominant in the AFC championship game against the Tennessee Titans and will need to come up huge, again, for the Chiefs to claim their first Lombardi trophy in 50 years.

Super Bowl LIV will be played in Miami. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Kelce can expect a strong contingent of Cleveland Heights residents to back him up during the contest. Over the summer, Kelce cemented himself as a local hero when he hosted "Walk the Walk" fashion show fundraiser, which benefited the Heights Schools.

"We're grateful that he is giving back to his hometown by increasing access to after-school programming. His foundation is doing good work, and Heights Schools Foundation and the CHUH Schools District are proud to be a part of it," Johnston Senturia, executive director for the Heights Schools Foundation, said at the time.

Kelce, and his brother Jason, were inducted into the Heights High Hall of Fame in 2018.
