CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The dominant Heights High Tigers football team has been nominated for Cleveland Browns high school game of the week. In the final week of the regular season, the Tigers are set to play Maple Heights High.

The Tigers are currently ranked No. 8 in their region and boast an 8-1 record. The team could move even higher in the rankings when they're updated on Tuesday afternoon by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

In the final week of regular season play, the Tigers will face-off with Maple Heights. A win could punch Heights High's ticket into the playoffs. A loss could exclude the team from the postseason. A lot will be riding on Friday night's game.

For Maple Heights, a team with a strong record, it will be senior night. Both Maple Heights and Cleveland Heights could win their conference title with a victory. To recognize the immense consequences of Friday night's contest, the Cleveland Browns have nominated the match-up for their game of the week.

If Heights High versus Maple Heights is selected for game of the week, the Browns will cover the game on their website and social media and the winning team will receive $2,500 for its football program. Fans can vote for their school to be selected online.

During last week's game, the Tigers obliterated Shaw High with a 52-8 win at home.

“The Shaw game was an emotional night and win for our seniors because that is the last game they will play in our home stadium and it was senior night. The guys have been great all season, but our goal from the outset was to win the LEL championship and get in the playoffs. It looks like we will have the opportunity to do both next week against Maple Heights,” Heights coach Mac Stephens said on the team's website.
