Heights High Staffer Tests Positive For COVID-19

Crews have been paying additional attention to the high school's kitchen when cleaning and disinfecting.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A Heights High employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

The high school staffer was last in the building on Friday, the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools announced. Crews have been doing additional cleaning and disinfecting in the kitchen, where the employee was mostly located.

The district said they have not identified anyone who had close contact with the employee.

Since April 27, two Heights Schools employees have tested positive for the virus. No students have contracted COVID-19, according to the district's virus reporting dashboard.

While the COVID-19 vaccination process continues statewide, the Heights Schools encourage members of the community to do their part to stymie the spread of the virus. Common sense safety practices include:

  • Wearing a face mask
  • Social distancing
  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water
  • Hand sanitizing when soap and water are not available
  • Staying home when you do not feel well
  • Disinfecting high-touch surfaces regularly
  • Not sharing food, drinks, cups and utensils
  • Avoiding crowds
