Heights High Student Tests Positive For Coronavirus
District officials said the student has not recently been in a school building.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A Heights High students tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
The student has not been in any school buildings or district facilities, Superintendent Elizabeth Kirby said. The student is at home with mild symptoms.
"We are working closely with the Cuyahoga County Health Department and anyone identified as a close contact will be notified by the health department as a part of COVID-19 investigation," Kirby said.

District officials urged anyone contacted by tracers to cooperate fully.
With COVID-19 spreading throughout Ohio at record rates, Kirby asked Cleveland Heights and University Heights community members to follow these health and safety tips:

- Wearing a face mask
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water
- Hand sanitizing when soap and water are not available
- Staying home when you do not feel well
- Disinfecting high-touch surfaces regularly
- Not sharing food, drinks, cups and utensils
- Avoiding large gatherings of 10 or more people
After considering an in-person return to classrooms, Kirby and district officials pivoted back to remote-only education until at least 2021. Cuyahoga County's COVID-19 threat was recently upgraded by the Ohio Department of Health. Statewide, COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are being confirmed at a record rate.
