CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Starting Friday, Cleveland Heights will run a new program call Shop Small Bingo to support local businesses. Customers can win two $25 gift cards if they fill a row.

Each week, the city will release a bingo card with 24 local businesses. Shoppers who share a photo of them enjoying their meal, with their receipt in the picture, can mark off one of the spots. If they fill a whole row, they'll be entered to win two $25 gift cards to their choice of establishment.

"We learned about a similar program being run in a city out west. I had a chance to speak with their communications person and we adapted a program for Cleveland Heights. They focused solely on restaurants, but our plan is over the next few weeks as merchants start opening their doors they will be added to the card," a city spokesperson told Patch.

Participants who fill a row will be entered into a digital "hat." A single winner will be drawn each week and will get two $25 gift cards to their business of choice.

"The city is paying for the cards as another way to support our businesses. New cards will be posted each week with new businesses added," the spokesperson said.
