'Kindertransport' To Debut At Ensemble Theatre In March

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — "Kindertransport" will debut at Ensemble Theatre on March 6. The show focuses on a British rescue mission during World War II which saw 10,000 Jewish children placed into foster homes in the U.K.

Here's how Ensemble described the play, "The Kindertransport was a British rescue mission that took place at the beginning of WWII. Over 10,000 Jewish children from various countries were placed in British foster homes. Helga and Werner Schlesinger are parents faced with the difficult choice of keeping their beloved daughter Eva in Germany with them, or letting her become one of the Kindertransport children, who are sent to the U.K., alone."

The show stars Cleveland's own Dorothy Silver. Katia Schwarz will direct the play.

"Kindertransport" debuts March 6. The opening night reception will feature chocolate covered strawberries for attendees. Happy Hour performances will be held March 13 and March 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and cash bar weekend will be March 13 to March 15.

Two pay what you can performances will be held March 8 and March 15 at 2 p.m.

There will also be an art making workshop with Robin Vanlear from March 13 to March 15. "Create your part of a Kindertransport installation for the lobby of the Coventry Peace Campus. Bring photos, drawings, or scraps of fabric, as you create the individual you would choose to board the train and save from harm."

Performances of "Kindertransport" will be held Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The show will run from March 6 to March 29.
