Metal Detector Policy Adjusted For Heights High Football Games
To ease congestion at entrance gates, the district is trying a new arrangement for the metal detectors.
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Heights High is making changes to its new metal detector installation for varsity home football games, the district announced. School officials hope the changes will ease congestion for attendees.
There will continue to be one metal detector at the away side entrance and one metal detector for the home side entrance. However, the district is moving the location of the home metal detector, allowing both entrance gates to be open.
Signage will be posted directing fans buying tickets in-person, and signage directing online ticket buyers. Both lines will then be funneled into the metal detector area.

The Cleveland Heights-University Heights Schools added metal detectors for home varsity football games on September 6.
In a brief statement posted on the district's website, officials said the school system received a grant to implement "added safety and security measures at its major sporting events." Starting Friday, that will mean metal detectors scanning fans going to home football games.
"This action is to ensure the safety and security of students, parents, staff, and community members" the district said on its website. "School security staff and administrators appreciate your patience, as they utilize this new security tool for the first time."
