More Than a Dozen Officers Called To Calm Disturbance At MYXX

More than a dozen police officers were called to at 2:27 a.m. Sept. 3 to calm a disturbance outside of the Cedar Fairmount business.

Cleveland Heights Police called for mutual aid from Shaker Heights, and 15 to 17 officers were on the scene. According to police, there was a large crowd outside of the bar and lounge screaming, and some patrons attempted to engage in a fight. Police arrested four men involved in a brawl.

Leon Dye-Booker, 22, of Cleveland Heights, Garrison Davis, 20, of Euclid and Davon Gravely, 21, of Cleveland were charged with disorderly conduct, and Sonny Ali, 33, of Cleveland, was charged with obstructing official business, police reported.

Police Chief Jeffrey Robertson said in an interview in June that he’s had complaints about the business, which in the former Jillian's space, from neighbors in the area. Some calls came in the after the bar closed when a fight broke out, a car struck an officer and 300 people spilled out into the Cedar Fairmount intersection.

Police June 24, a Sunday, another night when the complaints usually occur, because MYXX was hosting a party, Robertson said, and they don’t have a rental hall permit.

The problems there prompted City Council to at the Aug. 6 meeting.

Mayor Ed Kelley said at that meeting that he hoped to “remedy the situation” with the new owners, JDI Loans, LLC, who declined to comment on the nuisance legislation. Calls made to the most recent operator Kim Lisboa, who used to own the building, and the event coordinator in August were not returned.

“If they can’t operate a normal business that adds to the health and vitality of that neighborhood, they’re not going to be in business,” Kelley said in August. “It’s just not working out.”

Police said they also issued citations to MYXX patrons playing loud music at a parking lot nearby at 10:25 p.m. Sept. 2, and also reported that the business was allowing underage women into the bar that same evening.
