The new coach is a familiar face.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH —The Heights High girls soccer program has a new head coach, and she's a familiar face. Alumnus and two-time Lake Erie League Player of the Year Taylor Pickens will return to her alma mater to lead her former program.

“We are excited to announce the hiring of Taylor as our new girls soccer coach,” said Athletic Director Joe D’Amato on the district website. “Taylor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across many levels in the sport. Her commitment to building a program within our community and the success she's had previously bodes well for the future of our girls soccer program. We are excited to welcome another Tiger alum back home!”

Pickens graduated from Heights High in 2007. She was a member of the girls soccer team from 2003 through 2006, a four-year starter and winner of LEL Player of the Year as a junior and senior. She played college soccer at Youngstown State University from 2007 through 2011. She received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from YSU and is pursuing a Master's in Education from Ursuline College.
