Nighttown Sold To New Owners

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — The iconic jazz club Nighttown has been sold.

Owner Brenan Ring said the new owners plan to bring in one of the "top chefs in Cleveland." While Ring described the new owners as "progressive" he has not disclosed who those owners may be.

Ring bought Nighttown in 2001 from John Barr. Through nearly two decades, Ring has guided the restaurant and jazz club through choppy waters.

"Nighttown has been a treasured place to gather for multiple generations largely thanks to Brendan Ring. His presence and commitment to the City will be greatly missed. The City looks forward to working with the new owners as they take Nighttown into the future. We wish Brendan nothing but the very best in his future endeavors," the city of Cleveland Heights said on Facebook.

Nighttown, like many other restaurants in Ohio, shut down in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the next nine months, the club re-opened and re-shut down. Nighttown closed again in late November and Ring said he then he anticipated a spring reopening.

The Press Club of Cleveland's Hall of Fame is currently housed at Nighttown. The organization issued a statement on the club's sale.

"We have enjoyed and appreciated our longstanding relationship with Nighttown as the host of our Hall of Fame display. As ownership is changing hands, our board’s executive committee will soon discuss the future of this valuable and historic display with the new owners to learn of their interest in retaining our presence there and what our options are. We will issue another update as soon as we learn more. "
