RITA Extends Tax Deadline Because of Power Outages
The new deadline for third-quarter taxes is in November.

Cleveland Heights residents who tried to pay their Regional Income Tax Agency bills this week might have had a rude awakening: the agency’s website and phone system were down, and its office in Cleveland Heights City Hall was closed.Â
But not to worry—according to a message on the agency’s website, the due date for those third-quarter billing statements has been extended until Nov. 7. The due date for the third quarter is usually on Oct. 31.Â
The message notes that a power outage affected the agency's system from Monday night through Wednesday night. The storms caused by Hurricane Sandy caused power outages all over the area this week.
