Thousands Without Power In Northeast Ohio
After wind gusts tore through Greater Cleveland on Thursday night, thousands awoke to find themselves without power.
CLEVELAND — Nearly 3,000 people are without power in Cuyahoga County on Friday morning after storms tore through Northeast Ohio on Halloween night. Powerful wind gusts downed tree branches and power lines alike, leaving thousands in the dark even as the sun rose.
A high wind warning was issued on Thursday, warning Northeast Ohioans that gusts exceeding 40 mph would tear through the region. As costumed kiddies went door-to-door, the storm accelerated and began to wreak damage.
By Friday morning, more than 2,900 people were without power in Cuyahoga County, with significant outages in Lorain County and Lake County as well.

Cleveland's eastern suburbs were hit hardest by the storm. By 9:30 a.m. on Friday, the following suburbs had outages, according to FirstEnergy's outages map:
- Bedford Heights (34)
- Cleveland Heights (54)
- East Cleveland (143)
- Euclid (129)
- Lyndhurst (29)
- Maple Heights (139)
- Mayfield Heights (359)
Parma had more than 1,200 outages within its city limits. Cleveland had nearly 500 reported outages at 9:30 a.m.

Since many of the outages were caused by severe weather, FirstEnergy does not yet have a timetable for when power will be restored for the majority of residents.
