79-Year-Old Man Dies After North Smithfield House Fire

The fire broke out at a home on Old Pound Hill Road early Thursday morning.

NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI — A 79-year-old man has died from his injuries sustained in a three-alarm house fire that broke out in North Smithfield Thursday morning, reported ABC6 News.

Fire officials from multiple communities responded to the home on Old Pound Hill Road around 4 a.m. and found the home fully engulfed in flames.

Two other people who were inside at the home were able to get out unharmed.

According to Fire Chief David Chartier, crews struggled to get the fire under control due to a lack of water in the area.
