I sometimes tell people that I became a journalist before I learned to multiply. I was a third grader home on a rainy and I made my own newspaper called, &#34;The Naomi Nix News&#34; or as I would say &#34;Tripple N&#34; for short. The paper didn&#39;t have long lifespan, but I never fell out of love with journalism.   Even though I have been telling stories for the past eight years, the idea that you can make a living talking to strangers never ceases to amaze me.

I recently graduated from Princeton University, with a bachelor&#39;s degree in sociology and a minor in African American studies.  I have worked at major media outlets, including an NPR member station, The News Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and most recently The Washington Post.  At Princeton I was an associate editor and multimedia producer for The Daily Princetonian. I was the associate director for reporting at WPRB, the campus radio station. Throughout the school year, I covered the Princeton school board and local town politics for The Trenton Times. In the spring of 2009 I continued my journalism and sociology studies during a semester abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  I grew up in Wilmington, Delaware with my two little sisters.

<br> <b>Your Beliefs</b><br> At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.<br> <br> <b>Politics </b><br> How would you describe your political beliefs?<br> Are you registered with a certain party?<br> At this point in my life I think I still trying to figure out what my political beliefs are. I go back and forth about certain hot button issues that others seem to have a firm stance on. I am not registered with a certain party. Having said that, I am definitely not a fan of extremist points of view.  There is always two sides to every issue and I think we should work hard to understand both.

<br> <b>Religion</b><br> How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious) I grew up in a religious household (in fact I am the daughter of a pastor) and I certainly understand the important and intimate way religion can function in people&#39;s lives.  But I have also studied religion from an academic standpoint and I get how and why religious institutions aren&#39;t for everyone.  I would consider myself an observant Christian. <br> <b><br> Local Hot-Button Issues</b><br> What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?<br> Where do you stand on each of these issues?

I am definitely still getting to know this community, but I think budget cuts are big deal.  Also people seem to disagree about where we should put the cell phone towers. And I think people are also wondering how BRAC will affect the northern Virginia area.  I don&#39;t have a firm stance on any of these issues yet.<br> <br> <b>Part Two: Short Bio</b><br> Naomi Nix recently graduated from Princeton University, with a bachelor&#39;s degree in sociology and a minor in African American studies.  She has secured internships with major media outlets, including The News Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Washington Post.
