• December snow disrupts school divisions' calendars (foxrichmond.com) — Petersburg students have already missed four school days this December because of snow and icy roads, as divisions across Central Virginia juggle closures and calendar changes. Nearby Hanover is converting planned days off into class days, while Richmond and Henrico lean on built‑in makeup days and possible asynchronous learning to limit long‑term academic disruption. 
• Walter Thomas Roane, 74, of Shacklefords (wydaily.com) — Petersburg is mourning longtime resident Walter “W.T.” Roane, a beloved musician, community volunteer, and family man who passed away on November 25 at age 74. A Virginia State graduate and former Southside Virginia Training Center employee, he later ran a delivery business, worked at Walmart Distribution Center, volunteered at the YMCA, coached youth sports, and served churches in Dinwiddie and King & Queen.
