3 New Singaporean Restaurants To Open In Silicon Valley

Killiney Kopitiam will open 3 restaurants in Silicon Valley this year.

SILICON VALLEY, CA — Killiney Kopitiam is Singapore’s oldest cafe. It is now being franchised in the United States, and three restaurants are planned in Cupertino, Mountain View and Santa Clara.

Singapore native Amanda Toh Steckler is Killiney Kopitiam’s master franchisee for the U.S. Her goal, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, is to take Singaporean food mainstream in America.

The Killiney Kopitiam menu includes curries, kaya toast, and roti prata with an eye toward expanding selections.

The first Killiney Kopitiam in the U.S. opened in Palo Alto last year. There, patrons can watch Singaporean coffee being made from traditional long-spouted kettles.

In addition to the Silicon Valley locations, Steckler plans to open restaurants in Walnut Creek and Livermore this year. Once she conquers the Bay Area, she will expand to Southern California and Washington.
