49ers Pledge $500K To Building 'Safer America'
The San Francisco football team said they will join police unions in improving police and community relationships.

SANTA CLARA, CA -- The 49ers on Thursday announced a $500,000 pledge to help the community build better relationships with law enforcement.
In a press release, the team said they will sign the "Pledge for a More Understanding and Safer America" alongside the San Jose Police Officers' Association, the Los Angeles Police Protective League and other major law enforcement unions across the nation.
The pledge comes after the Las Vegas shooting where a gunman killed 58 people and wounded hundreds others.

"All parties are pledging to advocate for common sense legislation to ban “bump stocks” and any other mechanism that allows for the conversion of a semi-automatic weapon into an automatic weapon; armor-piercing bullets; and gun silencers," the press release said.
The 49ers are also encouraging other NFL teams to join the pledge.
