Fatal Victim In Apartment Fire Identified

The 38-year-old man was found unresponsive by firefighters at the blaze last Friday on Blossom Hill Road.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A 38-year-old man who died in an apartment fire in San Jose last Friday has been identified as Sean Zuniga, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

The fire broke out at about 4 a.m. in the 1200 block of Blossom Hill Road in San Jose, according to fire officials. Firefighters arrived and knocked down the flames at a second-floor apartment, but found Zuniga unresponsive when they went inside. Resuscitation efforts failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire seriously damaged Zuniga's apartment, as well as six neighboring apartments, and about 15 people were displaced.

Fire Capt. Mitch Matlow said the cause and origin of the fire are still under investigation.
