A message posted to the business' door states that the Mendez brothers closed in downtown Los Gatos effective Saturday, Jan. 11.
"We are thankful to our customers who helped make this a great experience. We hand-made over 600,000 empanadas and it has been an honor to introduce a small taste of Argentina to the community," the message said.

"The food is amazing and we think you will enjoy it!" the brothers said.
Some of the empanada varieties included macaroni and cheese, carne (beef), pollo (chicken) and queso y cebolla (cheese and onions), corn, spinach, sausage and jamon y queso (ham and cheese), to name a few.
