Manresa Pairs With Spade & Plow For Dinner Series

LOS GATOS, CA — Prepare your tastebuds for the extraordinary.

Manresa Bread Partner and Head Baker Avery Ruzicka celebrates San Martin farm Spade & Plow with a dinner at the Campbell all-day cafe on July 26.

The event is the first in a series of monthly dinners featuring nearby farms and providing a platform to spotlight the region’s local bounty. For the Spade & Plow dinner, Ruzicka will present a four-course menu showcasing the farm’s squash and squash blossoms, peppers, tomatoes, melons, tender soft greens and herbs and edible flowers.

Forty seats will be available for the dinner priced at $80 per person inclusive of tax and gratuity. Wine pairings at $45 will be presented by Sommelier Alyssa Twelker from Farm Wines Import highlighting natural wine pairings to complement each course.

As an avid proponent of local growers and producers, Ruzicka relies on Spade & Plow and other neighboring farms to craft the cafe’s seasonal menu using fresh delicious ingredients at their prime. Throughout the series, Ruzicka will partner with local farms that help source her daily produce and grains to create a one-of-a-kind dinner experience celebrating California harvest season.

Spade & Plow was founded by Mike Thorp and his two sons Nick and Sam. With a departure from big corporate agriculture, the three started the enterprise in 2015 with 10 acres in San Martin. With an intention of sustainability, the Thorp family decided to create fresh, clean, certified organic fruits and vegetables accessible and affordable to Santa Clara County residents.

To date, the farm has added another 27-acre property also in San Martin, which has allowed for increasing production and preserving more agricultural lands in Santa Clara County.

Working with Manresa is a pairing worth noting for any diner.
