San Jose Church To Hold Easter Services At Drive-In Movie Theater
Southridge Church is holding four Easter services Sunday at the West Wind Capitol Drive-In Theater.
SAN JOSE, CA — While many churches amid the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis have turned to online services for the small screen, and others congregate for Sunday services in defiance of the law, one San Jose church is taking its Easter Sunday services to the big screen.
The goal is to congregate, though in the isolated safety of their vehicles, for Easter.
Southridge Church, which in normal times meets at Oak Grove High School on Blossom Hill Road in San Jose, will hold it Easter services Sunday at the West Wind Capitol Drive-In Theater, at 3630 Hillcap Ave. in San Jose. The theater, one of only a handful of drive-in movie theaters left in the Bay Area, is temporarily closed in deference to the coronavirus.

The service will be shown on the big screen and visitors will tune into it on the radio, maintaining proper social distancing.
There also will be a drive-through "essentials" station where visitors can get free fabric masks, food from a pop-up pantry, toiletries and Easter eggs.
