Santa Clara County Clerks Protest Over Salaries

Santa Clara County court clerks briefly hit the picket lines Monday demanding pay raises.

Santa Clara County, CA -- Santa Clara County court clerks briefly hit the picket lines Monday demanding pay raises.

The clerks said they've been working for a number of years without any pay raises, according to The Mercury News.

According to the newspaper, the court has offered "a net 4.5 percent raise in the first fiscal year of the two-year contract, as well as an immediate 5 percent raise for the 88 percent of the workers who have been with the courts for at least six years... But the association says the cost of living has increased more than that since the recession began and are seeking an undisclosed wage hike during the second year."
