Santa Clara Women's Soccer Returns To Campus As Champions: Watch
A day after winning the national championship, the Broncos got a hero's welcome when their bus pulled up to campus on Tuesday.

SANTA CLARA, CA — A line of cheering supporters greeted the Santa Clara University women's soccer team as they arrived back on campus after capturing their second national championship in program history on Monday.
According to video from NBC Bay Area, students and fans were waiting, holding signs and cheering on the arriving athletes Tuesday afternoon:

Santa Clara, an 11-seed in the tournament, upset No. 2 North Carolina in the semifinals and then beat No. 1 Florida State in the championship for its first title since 2001. The 2020 tournament had been delayed from last fall due to the pandemic.

A large traveling group cheered on the team in Cary, North Carolina, where the championship tournament was held. Despite playing limited matches prior to arriving in North Carolina due to local pandemic restrictions, the Broncos managed to come away on top.
Santa Clara is just the seventh program in NCAA history to win multiple national championships.

"It's extremely rewarding to come out champions," said defender Alex Loera in a postgame interview. "We're just over the moon right now as you can imagine. We haven't seen anybody for over five months. Having our fans here was absolutely fantastic and it really felt like a home game, so huge props to them."
