South Bay City Launches Small Business Coronavirus Relief Program

Grants offered through city partnership with Gilroy Chamber of Commerce.

GILROY, CA — The city of Gilroy has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to launch a grant program for small businesses amid the pandemic.

Businesses operating within the city limits may qualify for a one-time business relief grant of up to $10,000 using federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding.

Grants are based on the number of full-time equivalent employees as of March 17, 2020, when shelter-in-place orders went into effect.

The maximum grant award is $5,000 for businesses with 2 to 10 employees $10,000 for businesses with 11 to 25 employees

The funds can be used for working capital such as rent, payroll, utilities and inventory.

The application period ends Friday at 5:00 p.m.
