SR-17 Cleared From Flipped Full Sand Truck: CHP

The northbound lane closure lasted for about five hours before Caltrans cleared the major thoroughfare.

LOS GATOS, CA — A big rig full of sand flipped on State Route 17 Tuesday, just in time for the afternoon commute, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The major thoroughfare that connects Santa Cruz with the South Bay was slow going around the Hillsdale cutoff near Summit Road as Caltrans worked to clear out the sand, CHP Officer Eric Anderson told Patch.

The crash and debris has been cleared on the northbound side of the highway.
