VTA Expects To Bring Back Light Rail Service By End Of Month
VTA had suspended its light rail service after the May 26 mass shooting due to low levels of staffing.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority expects to bring back light rail service by the end of the month after it completes a multi-phased plan, the agency said in a blog post on its website Thursday. VTA did not confirm a specific date.
VTA had suspended its light rail service after the May 26 mass shooting due to low levels of staffing, as the transit agency said it would prioritize its bus routes.
VTA has three rail lines and around 70 bus routes that serve Santa Clara County. The "orange" rail line goes between Mountain View and San Jose's Alum Rock neighborhood; the "green" line between Santa Clara and Campbell; and the "blue" line runs through San Jose from north to south.

The agency said that resuming light rail service may include a need for retraining, adding that its priority was to “put our people first while also achieving the goal of providing critical transit services to our community.”
“We know our light rail passengers are eager to see the trains running again,” VTA said in the post. "We are too.”
